July 26, 11 a.m. — David Busch
David Busch David Busch hails originally from Southeast Texas, and earned both his Master's and Doctorate from Texas A&M University. He worked for 48 years with over 4,000 children and adolescents, specializing in the assessment and treatment of ADHD, and implemented non-prescription treatments using natural supplements. In 2/3 of his clients there were successful notable improvements. David taught K-12 in the public school system, and also taught at Valdosta State University for 13 years where he was granted tenure on first application. Three years later, he was the first person in the history of the state of Georgia to ever resign from a university after being granted tenure. In 1977, David felt called to the North Georgia mountains and began practicing full-time without knowing anyone in the region. He opened an office specializing in natural healing, herbal medicine, reflexology, weight loss, and a few other modalities. He had always wanted an integrated approach to medicine using psychology, but had to tread carefully with all the state licensing regulations at the time. Now, the world seems more accepting of integrative medicine. What feels remarkable about this is during the 29 years he practiced in Gilmer County, his calendar remained full without ever spending a dime on marketing. Today, David is recreating himself as he semi-retires in Franklin, NC. He said, "I am presenting myself as a holistic psychologist, treating the mind, body and spirit of older adolescents and adults."
